All about me
I came to my yoga practice in 2012, right as I graduated high school and moved back to my hometown of Madison, Wisconsin.
I took spiritual refuge in a hot yoga studio just a couple blocks from my apartment during one of the coldest winters on record for the Midwest back in 2012. I subsequently found myself delving into the practice and shared community at what is still Dragonfly Hot Yoga Studio.
I was drawn in by each teacher I experienced with openness and acceptance. And as I practiced with students I was gaining appreciation for the depths we could get to on the mat, off the mat, alone, and side by side. I found myself inspired by each of these individuals unique approaches to the practice and it's teachings. I volunteered and then worked at this studio for a couple of years when I new in my heart these teachings spoke to every part of my being and I wanted to share them with as many people as possible.
After deciding to fully embark on this path I journeyed to the Big Island Of Hawaii to become certified as a 200 hour teacher, training with Troy McPeak of Peak Beings© in the style of Unified Yoga.
Now, after over 10 years in my practice I draw my inspiration from the rugged, wild, and boundless beauty of my surroundings in the community where I live. I spend my days with my loving partner Colin, my sweet pup and kitty cat; Sophya and Sonia, and I am outside in nature as much as possible.
I feel grounded in my practice and in the continuity of learning that being a facilitator brings. I facilitate by holding space when we learn together so that all parts of ourselves feel inclined to be deeply present. What may start as a simple moment of self indulgent care and can turn into a lifetime of fully showing up for the greatest good of all involved.
My teaching style is a dynamic combination of traditional Hatha and Vinyasa style yoga. The fluid and vital movement that a Vinyasa practice has to offer is combined with the grounding structure of properly aligned asana and pranayama via a traditional practices found in Hatha yoga.
